Policy and Procedures2-0208 relating to the selection and orderig of textboos states that the faculty and staff members are requireed to consider the least costly practices in assigning instructionsla material for a course. Additionally, the Higher Educataion Act requires OSU to disclose the ISBN and retail price information of requried and recommened college textbooks and supplemental course materials listed for each course listed inthe institutions course schedule.
The deslection of textbooks is a departmental responsibility, therefore the Department Head will coordinate all selectionand procurement functions. Individual faculty members shall not place orders for textbooks directly with the OSU Student Union Bookstore. The department head must sign alloriginal orders and the order is to be forwarded to the appropriate academic dean.
All orders for textbooks will be finalized withinghe academic departments andcommunicated to the OSU Student Union Bookstore according to the following schedule for 2025:

If a textbook has been listed on the required list and the order has been processed, the order cannot be canceled or deleted - unless the Bookstore is unable to supply a sufficient number of books to meet the course needs or the course is canceled.
The department will ensure that the same textbooks are used for every section of the same course.
Problems realted to textboook and supply orders should be communicated through the department head to the Bookstore. It shall be the faculty members responsibility to report such problems directly to the Department Head and not the Bookstore.
